Salman Khan Not Upset With Priyanka Chopra For Leaving Bharat - Salim Khan
While the rumours may suggest a lot of things, Salman Khan’s father is here to clear things up once again. Salim Khan has revealed that Salman is not upset with Priyanka Chopra for leaving their upcoming film, Bharat and has said they will soon cast someone else in her place.
In an interview to SpotBoye, Salim said actors leave and join projects all the time and it’s nothing new. “It’s okay whatever happened. Priyanka is not doing Bharat, let her be. Such things happen in our industry,” he said. When asked if the film’s team was angry at Priyanka for leaving the film just when the shoot was about to begin, he said it was not true.
“Nope, it’s not the nth hour. And I repeat, such things happen- sometimes they happen for date issues, or the role, or even the money aspect. Aur kabhi aadmi ki kuch apni majbooriyan hoti hai. I haven’t yet got into the details of why Priyanka left Bharat, but we shall soon cast someone else. We are not upset with Priyanka. Salman Khan is also not upset,” he added.
However, when asked who will replace Priyanka in the movie, Salim said anyone could do it. “Koi bhi aa jayeja (uski jagah par). Bahut saare log hain. (Anyone can replace here. There are many people),” he said.
Nikhil Namit, CEO, Reel Life Productions, had told Mid-Day that he is unhappy with Priyanka’s decision to quit the film on such short notice. “Priyanka told us she had to exit due to her engagement, two days ago. It was a little unprofessional of her to do it so suddenly,” he told the daily.
Bharat director Ali Abbas Zafar sent out a tweet on Thursday confirming that Priyanka had indeed left the film due to ‘personal reasons’. According to a report by People magazine, she got engaged to Nick Jonas earlier last week on her 36th birthday. “Yes Priyanka Chopra is no more part of @Bharat_TheFilm & and the reason is very very special , she told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are very happy for her ... Team Bharat wishes @priyankachopra loads of love & happiness for life,” Zafar had written.
However, Priyanka is still a part of Shonali Bose’s The Sky Is Pink. Priyanka will play a mother in the movie which also star Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim. Roy Kapur Films shared a short video on their Instagram page of the crew getting together and ideating about the film. Priyanka joined the film earlier this month.
