It is that time of the year when all the biggies from the world American television gathers together for the biggest honor in the field of television entertainment. Primetime Emmy Awards 2018 is here and the list of nominees are out and we are as excited as we could be.

With Netflix snatching the monopoly of HBO and Game of Thrones registering a record number of nomination Emmys 2018 is sure to be an exciting event. It is also for the first time that show would be hosted by not but two celebrities.  SNL stars Michael Che and Colin Jost would be hosting the ceremony for the first time this. With fierce competition and major snubs, here is everything about Emmys 2018 that is going to make this year’s Emmys special and different from other.

Game of Thrones Goes Big

With 22 nominees Game of Thrones Game of Thrones is leading the way in nominees. Coming second is Westworld and Saturday Night Live which has bagged 20 nominees in the Emmys 2018. Notably, Game of Thrones did not have any nomination last year as it was not eligible.

HBO Loses Monopoly

This is the first time in the long history of Emmy’s that HBO does not have the highest number of total nominations. Among individual television networks, NBC is leading the charts. CBS is second in the running with 34 nominations closely followed by ABC with 31 nominations.

Netflix Emerges On Top

The major battle at Emmys this year is Netflix v/s HBO. With 112 nominations Netflix has the highest number of nominations for a single content  provider and given the popularity of the shows some big wins are being predicted by the pundits

Major Snubs

Two of the most popular shows do not have a nomination at Emmys this year. While The Big Bang Theory has one nomination in the technical category, Modern Family has none. Surprisingly these are the shows which have been the top contenders since 2009 and 2010 respectively is completely out of the Emmys run this year. Other shocking snubs are  The Good Place, One Day At a Time, Twin Peaks and Alison Brie for Blue which is sure to court some controversies
