Actor Bobby Deol ’s comeback to films is set to grow into a full-fledged second innings of his acting career. After his last film, Poster Boys, the actor has now reportedly been signed for Race 3. While Bobby is going full throttle on the big screen much to the delight of his fans, one wonders why he keeps his personal life so guarded. For instance, very little is known about his sons, Aryaman (16) and Dharam (13).

On whether keeping them away from media glare is a conscious choice, Bobby says, “I just want my kids to be away from all this limelight because once they grow older, they will definitely be exposed to all this. I want them to grow in their own environment and not get too influenced by the show business.”

The actor adds that he can sense his sons anyway joining the film industry, so he keeps them away from all of it, right now. “Privacy is also very important, and I feel the paparazzi culture takes it away. They are studying at this point and I’m sure they would want to get into Bollywood because there is no business like show business. And then, they would any way be used to this media limelight,” says Bobby, who is married to interior designer Tania Deol.

Whether he himself enjoys media glare, Bobby says he’s been lucky that in the years when he was active (in films), media wasn’t as big as it is now. “Imagine if that was the case, I would have been dead, because hamari photo hi khichti rehti. When I started off in films, people couldn’t know when we were travelling or when we would be spotted at the airport. But now, photographers know all about an actor’s itinerary,” says Bobby.

The 50-year-old, commenting on the necessity of PR and marketing in the mainstream film industry, explains, “PR has become more important than being an actor. You should first work on your PR strategy and then become an actor. That’s how it has become. You have to keep selling yourself every second of the day, which is why even a big doesn’t have the charisma or charm that actors from 20 years back had.”
