Uma Devi Carves Out A Name For Herself In Kollywood With Beautiful Lyrics
Though many male lyrics have set a name for themselves in Bollywood and Kollywood film industry, but rarely we have heard about female lyricists. After ace lyric writer Thamarai blew away everyone with her lyrics, there is another lyricist in the queue who is all set to make a splash with her verses. Well she is Uma Devi who shot to fame with her debut song Naan Nee Naamm Vaazahve in Karthi’s Madras.
Currently, the lyricist is writing lyrics for three heroines namely Nayanthara, Trisha and Jyothika for their forthcoming movies. Talking about it, Uma said, “It is just a coincidence that I am penning the lyrics for Nayan’s Aramm, Jyothika’s Magalir Mattum and Trisha’s 96 and yes I am immensely happy. Among these, MM’s lyric video of the song Adi Vaadi Thimira in Ghibran’s composition has been watched by more than 1 crore people. Similarly, Pudhu Varalaare Puranaanure and Thoranam Aayiram from Aramm are being received well.”
She also said that she was lauded by many people for her command over Tamil language and the freshness in her songs. She was also praised by many when she wrote two songs Maayanadhi and Veera Thurandhara for Rajinikanth’s Kabali which became chartbusters. She is collaborating again with Pa.Ranjith for his next film Kaala. This would be the third time that she would be working with him.
