Toronto Film Festival organisers announce Cory Monteith’s McCanick’s premiere date
McCanick is one of the last two movies by Cory Monteith which will be premiered at Toronto Film Festival on September 9, as announced by the festival organisers recently. McCanick is all about a narcotics detective Eugene “Mack” McCanick who notices that an innocent young criminal, Simon Weeks (played by Monteith) has come out of the prison.
To elaborate the plot more, Simon’s release leads to, as it is being told, “a firestorm of paranoia and violence. Unbeknownst to the chief of police (Ciaran Hinds, There Will Be Blood), Mack and his partner, Floyd (Mike Vogel, Under the Dome,) mercilessly hunt down Weeks for unknown reasons over the course of one long, hot day. The closer Mack gets to his prey, the more we understand that his frenzy stems from a truth from the past, which only Weeks can expose.” Earlier director Josh C. Waller stated, “The character he plays is this drug-addicted street hustler, and he was wanting to tap into things from his youth — which he’s been very open about publicly. I think he saw the role as an opportunity for catharsis.” Besides McCanick one more movie by Monteith, All the Wrong Reasons , will also be premiered in Toronto.
