Dirty Picture telecast banned on Censor Boards advice: I&B ministry
New Delhi The Information and Broadcasting ministry says its decision to ban Sony TV from telecasting Vidya Balans The Dirty Picture during daytime was based on the advice of Censor Board. "The CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification), which is an independent statutory body, had held that even the UA certificate given to the movie after several cuts meant that parental guidance was a must. The ministry was simply acting on the advice," a senior I&B; official told PTI. The ministry faced flak after it served notice to Sony on Saturday, barring the channel from telecasting the movie before 11PM. CBFC CEO Pankaja Thakur advised the ministry on April 20 that the film should not be shown in the afternoon or evening as per the Programme code of the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act 1995.
