Scarlett Johansson Takes a Jibe at Ivanka Trump
Scarlett Johansson recently gave an interview to Arianna Huffington at the Women in the World Summit in New York. In the interview, the Prestige actress revealed that she isn’t proud of the role Ivanka Trump plays in her father and the US President, Donald Trump’s administration. She also took a jibe at Ivanka which left the audience laughing.
According to the reports of USAToday.com, Scarlett said, “I’ve been thinking a lot about Ivanka Trump. I’m sure you saw the interview she did with Gayle King. It was kind of baffling. You can’t have it both ways, right? If you take a job as a public advocate, then you must advocate publicly, right? Earlier, she had said something that I found particularly disappointing, which is that the greatest change she was going to make... would be behind closed doors, and nobody would actually know she made this change.” As soon as she finished saying this, the crowd started laughing.
“I thought to myself, ‘Well, that’s empowering!’ How old-fashioned, this idea that behind a great man is a great woman. What about being in front of that person, or next to that person? She has the opportunity to make a big impact, just by being vocal,” The Ghost in the Shell actress further said. The interview was held during the eighth annual Women in the World Summit. The summit continued for three days, from April 5 to 7.
