Vishal vs Kabali maker Thanu: Mud-slinging at Tamil producers' council polls
The highly-anticipated election for Tamil Films Producers Council (TFPC) is all set to take place on April 2. Opposing senior council members including T Siva, SA Chandrasekar, Keyar and AM Ratnam, actor/producer Vishal has formed a young team, comprising of Gnanavel Raja, SR Prabhu, Gautham Menon, Mysskin and others.
With the election around the corner, Vishal’s team on Monday had called for a press meet to showcase the incompetence of the senior members. They openly attacked TFPC’s former president Kalaipuli S Thanu, producer of superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali and Vijay’s blockbuster Theri.
“For the first time in Tamil film history a producer is yet to sell the satellite rights of a Rajinikanth film, Thanu holds that record,” said Gnanavel Raja, producer of Singam series, who is also contesting for the general secretary position in the upcoming election.
“Another major record accomplished by Thanu is during his regime, piracy websites started live streaming on Facebook. And Thanu didn’t even care to address the piracy issue,” said Gnanavel, who lashed out at another senior producer T Siva, saying that he is holding panchayats among innocent producers and swindling off their hard-earned money.
“Once we win the election, I’m planning to invite Thanu sir and help him to sign the satellite rights of his films-Kabali and Their,” added Gnanavel on a lighter note.
Gnanavel also harshly criticized UTV South’s former business head Dhananjayan, he satirically called him ‘Cinema Scientist’. Dhananjayan tweeted “Using derogatory remarks against fellow producers for an election involving around 1200 members is nothing but arrogance”.
