OMG! Julie Andrews Had Risked Her Life On Mary Poppins Set
Legendary actress Julie Andrews, is widely remembered for her lead role in classic hit Mary Poppins. In her recent television interview, the Oscar laureate admitted that the iconic umbrella scene was very difficult, so much so that it almost killed her. The Disney movie came in year 1964 and entertained fans thoroughly.
“These were all practical effects, you were on wires and stuff. Yes, there was a very dangerous day right at the end of filming when I was in this excruciatingly painful harness. I was hanging around up there for the longest time with the umbrella. I thought I felt the wire leave and drop about six inches. I was nervous and very tired”, said Andrews.
She went on, “So I called down and I said, 'Excuse me, when you do let me down, could you let me down really gently, because I felt myself slip and I just don't feel too safe up here”. Andrews even joked that they filmed the stunt in the end so even if something goes tragic, they could still go ahead with the flick.
