FX’s Atlanta Won’t Be Back Until 2018
Atlanta, which is an American comedy-drama television series, premiered its first season in September 6, 2016. Rumours about the second season of the series were doing the rounds from quite some time now. FX has now confirmed the date when the television series’ second season would be released.
As per the network, FX’s Atlanta won’t be back until 2018. The reason behind this is the creator of the series, Donald Glover. As per the reports, the second season has been pushed to 2018 due to certain other commitments of its creator who also stars in it. Glover features in the Star Wars stand-alone Han Solo movie, for which the shoot has started this month.
According to the FX president of original programming Nick Grad, “Donald is a remarkable artist, effortlessly shifting from actor to writer, producer, director and musician to create one amazing project after another. Atlanta was just the beginning, the breakout comedy of the year and a series revered as much for its originality as its honest look at the experience of being aspiring, young and black in that legendary city. We’re proud to partner with Donald in an overall deal that will allow him to continue turning his creative vision into incredible television”.
On a related note, Atlanta won two Golden Globes this week, one for best comedy series and best actor for Glover.
