‘I Decided I Was Going To Take Roles That Progressed Image Of Latinos In Industry’, Says Gina Rodriguez
We all know that actress Gina Rodriguez shot to fame with her satirical romantic comedy-drama telenovela ‘Jane the Virgin’. The Enter the Dangerous Mind actress has earlier revealed that tasting fame and success hasn’t been easy for her as she had to come across several challenges and obstacles in her life. Recently, the 32-year-old actress stated that she consciously attempted to select roles that promoted the image of Latinos in the industry.
Of late, Marie Claire, an international monthly magazine for women, reported Rodriguez as saying that she has kept her eyes open for every opportunity that came her way. “My path wasn't laid out for me in my family or my culture because there are so few of us in the industry. That's how my whole career happened. Your eyes are open; you don't know what the next answer is going to be, but you're open. And you take every opportunity that comes your way”, the Deepwater Horizon actress stated.
“I decided I was going to take roles that progressed the image of Latinos in the industry, and I was going to choose those roles over money. I wanted to make sure I was contributing positively and not allowing limitations to dampen my experiences and my journey”, she added.
On a related note, Rodriguez will soon be seen in Alex Garland’s upcoming science fiction drama ‘Annihilation’.
