Director Lohith Talks About Working With Yuvina Parthavi
The trailer of Priyanka Upendra’s upcoming supernatural horror movie ‘Mummy-Save Me’ released this past June 30. The movie is penned and helmed by debutant Lohith. While Priyanka will be seen essaying the role of a pregnant woman, the emotion-packed film will also feature child actress Yuvina Parthavi in a significant role.
Recently, the filmmaker revealed that his primary idea was to depict the story of a pregnant lady on a mission. However, as the story developed, the young director got another role of the lead's six-year-old daughter in his mind. Lohith stated, “When I finished writing, both characters were equally important and I was then on the hunt for the right artiste to play her. Given the nature of the role, I selected a two-minute scene for the child artistes who auditioned. We must have tested over 40 kids and didn't find the right fit”.
The filmmaker added, “Around this time, our DOP, HC Venu, suggested that I check out Yuvina Parthavi, whom he had worked with on Arjun Sarja's directorial, Abhimanyu . At our first meeting, which was before we got her to audition, I was sure that I had found Kriya (the character's name)”.
Talking about how Yuvina was on the set, the filmmaker stated, “She is from Chennai, her mother tongue is Telugu, yet Yuvina not only got her lines in Kannada right, but she even trained in the language to dub for herself. Such was her dedication, that she got every scene perfect in a single take. If at all there were retakes, they were not because of her, but for other reasons”.
