Was Deepika Padukone, Not Katrina Kaif, Original Choice For 'Baar Baar Dekho'?

Deepika Padukone’s fans might feel a bit disappointed by knowing that their favourite actress was actually the first choice of the much anticipated movie, ‘Baar Baar Dekho’, but was replaced by Katrina Kaif later. As per a report published by Mumbai Mirror back in 2014, the Om Shanti Om actress was initially in talks to play the female lead in the romantic comedy-drama opposite Hrithik Roshan. However, things were put on hold once the Krrish actor opted out, and Sidharth Malhotra and the Welcome actress were later roped in.

Earlier, rumours were rife that the makers were also keen to cast Ranbir Kapoor in the film. If things would have worked out that way, Katrina and Ranbir’s first movie after parting ways would have been the Nitya Mehra’s directorial and not 'Jagga Jasoos', which anyways is struggling to get a release date. Well, now that’s something quite interesting to contemplate. It’s no secret that Deepika is Katrina’s ex-flame’s (Ranbir's) ex. It’s uncertain to say whether the replacement fanned the flames. 

Produced by Karan Johar, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ is scheduled for release on September 9. Katrina is already garnering applauses for her fiery moves in the song ‘Kala Chashma’. All we eagerly wait is to see if Deepika’s loss turns out to be Katrina’s profit.
