Dishoom Shows Strength, Collects This Much In Two Days

With high proportion of entertaining elements selling it as a masala experience, Rohit Dhawan’s Dishoom has been able to live up to its strength. With a heavy star power and enough masala involved to bank a solid opening, the film was any expected to open well, however heavy rains in most parts of the country dented some of its box office prospects.

Beating the weather gods to a certain extent, the John & Varun starrer opened to an impressive11.05 crores on Friday. Considering the kind of hype around the film, the numbers are good enough to warrant a healthy run depending on its word of mouth. The film however showed some growth on Saturday and added another 12.02 crores to its kitty. Dishoom now stands at a figure of 23.07 crores.

Looking at the growing trends and a relatively positive word of mouth, the film is expected to grow further on Sunday and put its opening weekend collection in the range of 36-37 crores. Although, its overall fate would only depend on the kind of performance it puts up on the weekdays. Given the high cost of production involved, Dishoom has to perform on its weekdays to be able to put a decent show and get to a safe position. With no Bollywood biggie lined up for next week in particular, it still has a week before the storm of Mohenjo Daro and Rustom hit the screens. Let’s watch this space for more!
