Kunal Kapoor In Jayaraj’s Next
Filmmaker Jayaraj’s fifth series of nine films on each of the navarasas will reportedly feature Rang De Basanti fame Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor. The movie will be titled Veeram. It will be a trilingual and based on the fifth rasa (veeram).
After the much-admired Ottal, the award-winning director’s movie will be an adaption of Shakespeare's Macbeth. The movie will have the North Malabar setting and the makers will take inspiration from its ballads, the Vadakkan Pattukal. Actor Kunal will be donning on the role of Chandu Chekavar the infamous hero of the stories in the ballads.
Martial expert Shivakumar Gurukkal who is training the actor for the role said, “Kunal has been taking training in Kalaripayattu for the past two months. It is not easy for him, but he has been showing great enthusiasm and putting in a lot of effort. He is picking it up well and his background in theatre is helping him”. The movie will go on floors on January 5 next year at Trivandrum. A source close to the project, Saji Kottayam reported, “The film will be shot in Malayalam, Hindi and English. Technicians from Hollywood and Bollywood are going to be part of it”.
