Manisha Koirala is not my inspiration for Heroine: Madhur Bhandarkar
Mumbai -- Dismissing all the rumours that his upcoming film Heroine is based on the lives of actresses like Manisha Koirala, Marilyn Monroe and Madhubala, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar has said that the leading character of the movie, being played by Kareena Kapoor, is actually an imaginary character created by him. Bhandarkar said, Heroine is not based on the life Manisha Koirala... it is absolutely wrong. Lot of things had been written about the film before. But all I would say is that I have created a character called Mahi who is today's girl. The film is all about how she witnesses the ups and downs in her life". Time and again, rumours have come out about Bhandarkars much-ambitious project that the film is inspired by Manishas life or the lead character is more or less similar to the lives of Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe or eternal beauty Madhubala. However, the director made it clear that the film is a story of a once successful film actress Mahi Khanna whose career is on a decline. "It will be a different sort of a film for Kareena. It is a different kind of cinema... she has never done this kind of a film before," Madhur added.
