Rajinikanth, who is shooting for his upcoming film Kabali in Malaysia, seems to have a huge fan following there. The country, which is apparently a huge market for Tamil films, has welcomed the megastar with full enthusiasm. A few days back, the Tamil superstar met governor of the Malacca province Mohammed Khalil bin Yaakob and now the rumours are abuzz that he will be honoured with Datuk.
Datuk, also known as Dato, is a title given by Malaysian government to individuals in order to honour them for their contribution to their respective fields. Rajinikanth, who has a huge fan following in Malaysia, will be awarded for his contribution to Tamil cinema. It is said that the governor of Malacca Province is a huge fan of Thailaivar and might honour him with Datuk very soon.
Many other celebrities from the world of cinema have been honoured with Datuk. In 2012, veteran Tamil actor Radharavi has received the award. Hollywood superstar Jackie Chan and Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan have also received the award. Now, an official announcement is awaited to confirm if Rajinikanth will be conferred with Datuk or not.
