Dileep On Vicky Donor Remake: ‘I Am Done With Remakes’
After his recently released film Ivan Maryadaraman, which was a remake of Telugu film Maryada Ramanna, failed miserably at the box office, Malayali actor Dileep has decided to avoid doing remakes. “I am done with remakes”, he said firmly. The actor was supposed to act in the Malayalam remake of Vicky Donor; he even purchased the rights of the Bollywood film, but now it seems that he has dropped the plan.
The Chandrettan Evideya star says that remake of Mollywood films might turn out to be successful but the vice versa is quite tough. “Many of our movies get remade in other languages because people there don't hunt down the original version on the internet and watch it. But Malayalis download every version made, refuse to go to the theatres to watch the remake, and then blast the makers for remaking it”, he said.
He further said Mollywood industry has great potential and there are a lot of good scripts emerging out of the industry. “I'd rather spend time listening to original scripts here and do such films instead of wasting my time with remakes”, he said. Talking about his multi-lingual project, which is to be directed by Kodi Ramakrishna, Dileep said, “We made a few changes and the team is now busy with the scripting, which should be done by the end of this year”.
