Bombay Velvet’s Music Suffered Because Of Its Failure, Says Amit Trivedi
Amit Trivedi, who composed music for Ranbir-Anushka starrer Bombay Velvet thought that the film’s music will spread awareness of jazz in the country, but certainly this did not happen. Trivedi further blames the film’s failure at the box office as one of the reasons, which made its music suffer. Even the music composer didn’t expect the Anurag Kashyap directorial would be such a disaster.
The music composer told DNA, “The soundtrack suffered because of the the movie's failure. We didn't expect that the movie will bomb so badly. If it would have done average business or gone above average, then also it would've helped the music a lot. That put the music on the back foot because the music was part of the whole screenplay and the milieu of the film”.
The music director who also composed for Queen also said, “Jazz is something which Indian audience are not well versed with. So that was an experiment which some liked and some did not. People, who understand jazz have taken the music really well. But the ones who did not understand, the music went above their heads. If the film had worked it would've changed the course of jazz scene in the country”.
