When Neena Gupta told daughter Masaba that she could never become a heroine like Hema Malini or Alia Bhatt
Neena Gupta told Masaba that she could never be a heroine
After winning hearts with her gorgeous and unique designs, celebrity designer Masaba Gupta followed in the footsteps of her superstar mother Neena Gupta to make her acting debut last year. She shared the screen with Neena ji in Masaba Masaba, a web series based on her life which features the mother daughter duo as fictionalized versions of themselves. While Neena ji was a star, as always, Masaba blew us away with her acting chops and expressions. But did you know there was a time when Neena did not want Masaba to pursue a career in acting?
In an interview with Rajeev Masand, Neena ji had revealed, “I told her ‘If you want to be an actor then you go abroad. Jis tarah tumhara shakal hai, body hai, tumhe yahan Indian milieu mein bahot kam role milenge (The way you look, the way your body is, you will get few roles in the Indian milieu). You will never become a heroine, you will never become Hema Malini, you will never become an Alia Bhatt’.” Well, we are extremely glad things worked out beautifully for Masaba.
The beauty will next be seen in the second season of Masaba Masaba, which will equally focus on Neena ji’s life and struggles. Buzz suggests that this time audiences are in for two exciting cameos. Masaba’s good friend and actress Alia will reportedly make her digital debut with Masaba Masaba 2. The designer’s father Vivian Richards might also make an appearance on the show.
