Gangubai Kathiawadi: Seema Pahwa Hopes To Work With Sanjay Leela Bhansali Again; Feels ‘Mother Roles’ Were Getting Monotonous

Seema Pahwa is an extremely versatile actress who has managed to wow the audience with every single one of her on-screen performances. May it be Susheela Mishra in Bareilly Ki Barfi or Vimla Joshi in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan-- she knows how to give the character a personal touch and leave the audience in splits with her one liners! But there is so much versatility and talent that filmmakers can still tap onto because she is not an actress made just for ‘mother roles’. Much to our delight, Pahwa is all set to blow us away with her different avatar in Gangubai Kathiawadi.

In a chat with Spotboye, the actress shared that only a visionary like Sanjay Leela Bhansali could have thought of her in that particular role. She was quoted saying, “Every actor who values acting—and I’m sure all actors do—should work at least once with Sanjay Bhansali. His visual sense is unparalleled. His aesthetics are incomparable with any director. He’s a perfectionist. He brings out the best in every actor and technician. When he offered me a role I was thrilled. But I had no idea how rewarding this experience was going to be. Now that I’ve worked with him once I can’t wait to work with him again. I hope he casts me in another film.”

Seema ji went on to add that the same mother roles and small-town environment for her character in films was becoming monotonous and tiresome. She shared, “Gangubai Kathiawadi came along at the right time.” Starring Alia Bhatt in the titular role, Bhansali’s biographical crime drama will arrive in theatres on 30^th July.
