Priyanka Chopra has made a rather busy star to 2021 and has been successful this far in winning over the audiences with two Netflix films, We Can Be Heroes and the recently released The White Tiger. Next in line for Priyanka is a very personal venture which is the release of her memoir Unfinished which she had already begun promotions for.
The Indian actress who exploded on the global scene talks to a magazine about her regret of having promoted fairness products earlier in her career. The actress added that she has also spoken at length about the issue in her book.
Priyanka was recently trolled on social media over sharing how she and her husband Nick Jonas donated to the cause of eradicating racial inequality. The trolls called her out for having promoted racial inequality through the fairness products she endorsed.
Now talking to Marie Claire magazine about the ads she did in the past she said, "(Skin lightening) was so normalized in South Asia; it’s such a large industry that everyone was doing it. In fact, doing it is still a check (mark) when you are a female actor, but it’s awful. And it was awful for me, for a little girl who used to put talcum-powder cream on my face because I believed that dark skin was not pretty."
