Janhvi Kapoor On Nepotism And The Pressure To Do Better: I Can’t Let It Bog Me Down

Daughter of popular filmmaker Boney Kapoor and late actress Sridevi, Janhvi Kapoor began her journey in the magical land of cinema 2 years ago with Shashank Khaitan’s directorial Dhadak, backed by Karan Johar. The beauty went on to win hearts with her performance in Ghost Stories and is now busy working on her upcoming projects. While she proved that she is a talented actress with great screen presence, there were some who termed her as a ‘product of nepotism’.

Opening up about the same in an interview with Grazia, Janhvi stated, “I can’t let it bog me down because I know there are people out there who would kill for this opportunity.” She continued to add, “I understand their feeling of being cheated a little bit. And it won’t go away until I prove myself worthy.” She also shared that from the minute she could walk and talk, she was ‘obsessed with creating alternate realities and pretending to be different people’.

After a two year gap from feature films, Janhvi is all set to shine again on the big screen in Gunjan Saxena’s biopic. Talking about the same, she said, “I feel like Gunjan Saxena is my first film. Also, the level of investment in this one is abnormally high, because I got on board at such a nascent stage.” The actress will also be seen sharing the screen with her favorite actor Rajkummar Rao in the much-awaited horror comedy Roohi Afzana. She was all praise for her co-actor as she shared, “He’s a very giving actor. He loves every aspect of filmmaking and it really shows in his performance.”

Other than Gunjan Saxena’s biopic and Roohi Afzana, Janhvi has many exciting scripts in her kitty. She will be featuring in Dostana 2 alongside Kartik Aaryan and Laksh Lalwani and will also play an important role in Karan Johar’s multi-starrer Takht. Janhvi has also signed Shashank Khaitan’s Mr Lele, co-starring Varun Dhawan and Bhumi Pednekar.
