Indian Idol 11: Twitter Criticizes Makers
Indian Idol 11 has been courting controversy since even before the show went on air in September. The judges of the singing reality show, Neha Kakkar, Vishal Dadlani, and Anu Malik sadly have been at the center of these controversies. Recently when a promo of an episode went viral showing a contestant forcibly pulling Neha in for a kiss on stage the fans were both enraged and upset on her behalf. Though when Vishal Dadlani tweeted on that matter saying he wanted to call the police and said the contestant needed psychiatric help but Neha Kakkar wanted to let go of the matter users erupted saying that promo should never have been aired and it was all being done to bring in TRPs.

Vishal Dadlani tweeted saying ‘I suggested that the Police be called, but Neha decided to let the guy off the hook. He definitely needs psychiatric help, and we will try to help him get that, if we can. #IndianIdol11’. After the tweet started a series of tweets trolling the singer and music composer with several users angry with the makers for the promo and several them calling it a publicity gimmick.
One wrote, ‘You got this one so wrong. Perhaps the program need psychiatric help to get back on track from being a tantalizing and over-dramatic show. He was led to behave that way. And then used in the promos to milk it.’
Echo the same sentiments another user said, ‘It was a well planned drama to increase the TRP rating. Otherwise they would have handed him to the police.’
Users also questioned why the inappropriate promo was aired and asked Vishal Dadlani about the same following his tweet. ‘What happened was totally uncalled for. But, why was it aired? It was not LIVE, is it? It is not only the offender who needs psychiatric help. @SonyTV’
Some also thought that after the episode was aired why stir drama bringing police into the matter. A tweet by a user read, ‘Sir if you would have called the police , apparently the script writer would have ended up in jail for the reality of the reality show ..’
Some others were unwilling to let go the whole Anu Malik controversy which started way before the show even aired, ‘When a TV channel telecast these types of incidents for TRP, When Sony hires Anu Malik as a Judge of the show , who has been accused of misconduct what kind of message we are sending to people that one can misbehave or assault a woman and get away with it. #indianidol11’
No doubt Indian Idol 11 is getting a lot of flak on the matter and we wonder what the response of the makers will be on this.
