Trivia Of The Day: Did You Know About Rishi Kapoor’s Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge Connection?
Rishi Kapoor's DDLJ Connection
When it comes to romantic films in Bollywood, ask any generation, Rishi Kapoor would be one of the first actors that will come to their minds. In a career spanning over 4 decades, Rishi Kapoor has set the standards for romance in Bollywood forever.
For his second innings in Bollywood, Rishi Kapoor has surprised all his fans by displaying the versatility of his acting prowess, but for nostalgic Bollywood fans, films like Bobby, Chandni or Khel Khel Mai will always occupy a special place when talking about romantic films in Bollywood. But did you know that Rishi Kapoor is also somehow connected to another iconic romantic movie of Bollywood that he was not even a part of? We are talking about Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.
Karan Johar in his biography revealed an incident that connects Rishi Kapoor to DDLJ. Karan wrote that during the shoot of DDLJ he was helping Aditya Chopra with the costumes of the film. They needed something for Shah Rukh Khan to wear at the end of the ‘Na Jaane Mere Dil Ko Kya’ where Kajol imagines him to be at her doorstep saying bye to her. Given the budget for costumes was not very elaborate, Karan decided to ‘source’ something for the petis of old clothes that lie around in Mumbai studios.
The sweater he chose was the same red and white sweater that Rishi Kapoor wore in the iconic film Chandni that made sweaters the hottest men apparel of that generation. However, the piece had a small hole in it but Karan Johar decided to sew an emblem patch on and everyone including Shah Rukh and Karan thought it looked super cool.
