The Baby In The First Scene Of Baahubali: The Beginning Was Born To Play The Role, Quite Literally

Baahubali: The Beginning has been an epic in every sense of the term. The biggest motion picture of the country, the film is almost a modern fable that would be mentioned in every discussion about landmark moments in the history of Indian films.

While the film was as fascinating as visual splendor can possibly, the stories of the making of the film is almost as engrossing as this epic saga. One of the most interesting ones is about the baby that appears in the iconic opening scene of the film where Sivagami is crossing the tumultuous river holding an infant Mahendra Baahubali above the swift currents.

The shooting of the scene was going on near the Athirapally Falls in Kerala and director SS Rajamouli was keen on casting newborn baby for the scene. However, the casting department was having a hard time trying to find a newborn baby. One of the Malayali production executives rose to the occasion and informed Rajamouli that his wife has recently given birth to their baby girl. Rajamouli was relieved and the baby was immediately cast as the infant Mahendra Baahubali.

Well, the lucky child was quite literally born to play the role and will forever be an important part of the biggest motion picture in India.
