21 Years Of Satya: Shahid Director Hansal Mehta Thanks Ram Gopal Varma “For Changing The Course Of An Entire Generation!”

Satya- this Ram Gopal Varma film is probably one of the most iconic films of Indian cinema of all times. The very changed the way Indian audiences looked at Gangster drama. This has been a film that had gained the status of cult and gave us many promising actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Kay Kay Menon and Irrfan Khan. Not just has it influenced the audience in a way that has proved to be the turning points of their lives, but it has also changed filmmakers and their outlook to Indian cinema, so much so that Karan Johar had called this film “the mother of all underworld films.”

21 years back, Satya released on this very day and changed the course of Indian cinema forever. Many cinema lovers are celebrating the day. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta, who has give us unforgettable films like Shahid, Citylights and Aligarh, had took to Twitter to express what Satya had meant to him. Thanking director Ram Gopal Varma and the entire team of Satya and said that the film “showed us that there was a way to subvert and own the same ecosystem that ignored you.” Here is what he wrote:
