Bollywood Actors Who Refused A Film Because They Wanted To Play Another Character In The Same Film

If you look at the filmography of each actor is Bollywood and lot of interesting insights seem to jump out you. Have you ever noticed how the career of an actor in Bollywood is shaped by the films they reject much more than the film the actually end up doing?

While there are several reasons why actors in Bollywood have refused films, there are some who rejected a film not because they disliked the script or date issues, but because they wanted some role in the film apart from the one that they were actually offered. Here are the ones we are talking about.

Aamir Khan- Sanju

Rajkumar Hirani, who has given milestone hits like 3 Idiots and PK with Aamir Khan was also keen on working with the star for Sanju. He offered the role of Sanjay Dutt’s father, Sunil Dutt to Aamir Khan. However, Aamir was keen on playing Ranbir’s character in the film and was not happy with the role offered to him. He finally rejected the offer and the role went to Paresh Rawal.

Amrita Rao- Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

It must have been a little disappointing for Amrita Rao when she was finally offered a film opposite a Khan, but as the sister. Amrita turned down the offer to play Salman’s sister in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo as she wanted Sonam’s role in the film. Finally, the role went to Swara Bhaskar.

Saif- Race 3

With his sharp acting and action skills as well as his stylish avatar, Saif made Race one of the most successful franchises in Bollywood. Thus when the time came to make the third installment of the franchise makers offered Saif a role in the film. However, it was Salman who was doing the lead role and Saif was offered a smaller role. Used to playing the lead in Race franchise, Saif, for obvious reasons refused the film.

Armaan Kohli- Deewana

Yes, the same Armaan Kohli who made us laugh with Jaani Dushman and furious with his antics on Bigg Boss will go down in the history for this terrible choice. He was offered the role of Shah Rukh in Deewana but he was after Rishi Kapoor’s role in the film. As a result, he refused the film and it was Shah Rukh who bagged the role. The rest, as they say, is history.
