Veteran actress Veena Kapoor not dead, files police complaint over son being called a murderer

Television actress Veena Kapoor recently became the victim of a death hoax. The actress was rumoured to have been killed by her son as she shared the same name with a woman who was murdered by her son in Juhu. She issued a clarification and also filed an FIR against those who spread the rumors.

Kapoor’s rumoured death led to her receiving incessant calls and messages, and also her son was being blamed and criticized as a murderer. "This is false news. The truth is there was a Veena Kapoor she has been murdered. But I am not that Veena Kapoor and I'm a different person. The name is the same but I stay here in Goregaon, not Juhu. I also stay with my son so that's why people thought that this is the Veena Kapoor. I want to tell them that I'm alive, well, and not dead. Don't believe in fake news,” she told ANI. Her son added that he was shocked to know about the false report circulating in the media.

Further, Veena said that she had been facing mental torture with repeated calls, day and night, even while shooting. "If we don't complain now then the same thing will be repeated later with others also. The mental torture that's happening with repeated calls, day and night, even while shooting ruins the mood. I'm also unable to focus on work," she added. She has filed a non-cognizable case for defamation at the Dindoshi police station. She claimed that her photograph was used in a news report in place of that of a senior citizen who was murdered allegedly by her son in Mumbai's Juhu area.

Meanwhile, the deceased woman was a 74-year-old mother who was killed by her 43-year-old man over a property dispute. She was repeatedly hit on the head with a baseball bat and dumped in a river. On the other hand, TV actress Veena Kapoor is alive and has worked in numerous TV shows including Bandhan Pheron Ke, Ajooni, Meri Bhabhi, and many others.
