‘SRK-Deepika, Salman-Katrina have huge age differences’: Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal’s Reem on age gap between Karan, Gashmeer & her

It raised many eyebrows when news about Karan Kundrra and Gashmeer Mahajani joining hands for a new supernatural thriller series made headlines. One reason was that their show Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal is an adaptation of popular American teen drama The Vampire Diaries . When the teasers and first looks were released, many netizens called the show ‘Desi Vampire Diaries’. Some were even irked because Karan’s ‘Hello Brother’ reminded them of Ian Somerhalder aka Damon Salvatore’s first dialogue. Another reason why some were skeptical is the age difference between the two hunks of television and their co-star Reem Sheikh.

The 20 year old actress plays the role of Karan and Gashmeer aka Veer and Armaan’s love interest Eisha in the show. Well, in a recent interview with ETimes, Reem reacted to news about their age difference and shared, “Honestly, I don’t know why it is so much discussed when it happens on television, because in Bollywood it has been happening for the longest time. I can still see Shah Rukh Khan working with Alia Bhatt who have a huge age gap between them, but people accept that. Viewers go to a cinema hall to watch Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone or Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif who have huge age differences. So if it can happen in Bollywood why can’t it be done in television?”

She went on to explain that she has grown up watching the same in Hindi movies, which is why the age gap between her and her co-stars was not weird to her. Reem added ‘girls mature faster than boys’ and sometimes the script demands a male character who is more macho. Talking about Karan and Gashmeer, the actress shared, “As far as Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal is concerned both Karan and Gashmeer’s age in the show is 200 years so it was necessary to cast mature men because that is the concept of the show.”

For the uninitiated, Karan and Gashmeer are playing werewolf brothers in the show. At the moment, Reem is portraying the role of Eisha. But she has a double role in this series.
