Shark Tank India: When the creator of Belly Button Shaper left Ashneer Grover in splits with his unique pitch

During the first season of Shark Tank India , the panel of potential investors were introduced to many quirky products and ideas. While one entrepreneur pitched the idea of ‘glass ka mask’, another got them tasty snacks made only out of jackfruit. Some of these left the sharks impressed while others irked them because they were a waste of time. Well, one particular product left even the most straightforward shark Ashneer Grover , former BharatPe managing director, in splits before he shared his honest opinion about it.

This product was the Belly Button Shaper, brought to the sharks by Shrawani Engineers. Baldev Jumnani and Jayshree Jumnani from Nagpur began their unique pitch with an unexpected question. The former asked the sharks about their fantasies. Baldev went on to share that his fantasy is deep, round and is zoomed in on in the shot of almost every movie scene-- a belly button. Their product is called ‘Naval Fukai’ which helps the user get an ‘attractive belly button’ without any surgery. The sharks were left confused and didn’t know whether to laugh or look away. While Aman Gupta was baffled, Grover was in splits. He even hid his face as he laughed while Jumnani gave his pitch.

When the unique pitch finally came to an end and the creator asked for Rs 20 lakhs for 10% equity, Anupam Mittal asked Jumnani when his obsession with the belly button began. Ashneer, on the other hand, controlled his laughter and stated that there are so many problems in the world. He asked Jumnani why he chose this particular issue. Grover went on to add that he can’t stop laughing at himself because so much of his time has been wasted. The shark said no, called the product ‘gimmicky’ and told Jumnani to get serious in life and stop selling the product.
