Shark Tank India: When Anupam Mittal met Amitabh Bachchan on KBC and made a 'big mistake'

Shark Tank India judges have become celebrities in the own right after the thunderous success of the first season which ended its run on Sony TV last month. The ‘sharks’ of the show not just came to be known for the successful entrepreneurs they are but also gained popularity for their intriguing personalities.

Shaadi.com co-founder Anupam Mittal for instance has been compared to Amitabh Bachchan for the baritone of his voice. The ‘shark’ who is often seen getting philosophical on the show as he is business savvy once revealed during a chat with RJ Kannan a few weeks ago how he felt he had made a ‘big mistake’ during his meeting with Amitabh Bachchan the mega star’s quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati .

As the host of the show compared Anupam’s baritone to Big B, Anupam shared an anecdote from his visit to the KBC 12 sets where all the ‘sharks’ went together to promote their show. 

Anupam told during the chat, “Bachchan sahab ke show pe main gaya tha, KBC pe toh pehle toh badi galti ho gayi mere se. Bachchan sahab ne kaha apne show ke baare mein samjhao. Meine kaha ke dekho bilkul aapke jaissa hi hai lekin aapko yahan paise milte hain, wahan pe mujhe paise dene padte hain (I met Mr.Bachchan on his show KBC and I made a big mistake as he asked me to explain about our show. I said its just like your show but you get paid here, there I have to pay).”

Talking further about Amitabh Bachchan’s reaction, Anupam added, “Bachchan sahab toh ekdum kadak..unki nazar toh aap jaante ho matlab... main daar gaya maine kaha ‘ye kya keh diya yaar,’phir who haans diye. ‘Dekho aap mein kuch baat hogi tabho toh log aapko bhi Bahcchan kehte hain’( Bachchan sir looked at me sharply and you know how he looks, I was scared and said ‘what did I have to say that'which made him laugh’ he told me ‘there must be something about you which is why people also call you Bachchan’).”

The Shark tank India judge said that it was after Mr. Bachchan laughed that he relaxed thinking he didn’t make that big an error. When the host teased him and asked if they had a baritone contest on meeting Anupam simply said no and added, “Woh kahan aur main kahan.”
