‘Nobody is indispensable’: Aasif Sheikh on actors who left Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai; is this a dig at Shilpa, Saumya?
Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai has seen a few changes in the star cast since 2016. Well, after 8 successful years, Aasif Sheikh explains why the show goes on
Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai is undoubtedly one of the most popular and loved sitcom series on television. Not just today, but since the last eight long years it has been ruling hearts with its rib tickling content and hilarious yet loveable characters. While Aasif Sheikh has been a constant delight as Vibhuti Narayan Mishra, Rohitash Gaud’s performance as Manmohan Tiwari is no less than a treat for our eyes and ears. The female lead characters have seen a change in casting, but Shubhangi Atre Poorey and Vidisha are currently killing it as Angoori Bhabi and Anita Bhabi.
As the show completes 2000 episodes, in a chat with ETimes Aasif shared that audiences don’t miss actors who left mid way because they enjoy the content. He was quoted saying, “Nobody misses anyone. I am sorry nobody misses people who have left the show. People who have joined in now, the audience love them and appreciate them. I strongly feel that in Bhabi Ji no artist is indispensable. Our content is so strong that they watch the show for the substance. Artists are definitely important but nobody is indispensable. I will say the same thing about myself.”
Aasif revealed that there are many fans who tell him they won’t watch the show if he ever made an exit, but the actor does not believe anything of that sort will happen. He explained that audiences watch Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai solely for the content, not the actors who play the beloved characters in it. Well, he does have a point because when Shilpa Shinde left the show due to a dispute with the makers, many thought nobody could replace her as Angoori Bhabi. But then we witnessed Shubhangi gracefully taking over. The same happened after Saumya Tandon made an exit.
As a member of the audience, do you agree with Aasif’s point of view?
