Devoleena Bhattacharjee recently tied the knot with her gym trainer Shanwaz Shaikh in a low-key wedding in presence of only her family and close friends. She ditched the lavish wedding and opted for a court marriage but netizens aren’t happy. A section of social media users slammed her for choosing to marry in court despite having money for the grand wedding.

The duo can also be seen exchanging garlands in presence of their relatives. Sharing the video, she wrote, “Just. Thank you shonu for being there always when nobody even bothered to ask if I am doing well or no. Thank you for making me feel the way I always wanted to be. Thank you for being protected & caring & loving. And most importantly Respecting me & accepting me with my flaws. Bohot kuch kehna cahti hun. But filhaal itna hi THANK YOU SO MUCH SHONU FOR EVERYTHING.”
Soon after the video surfaced, one of the netizens wrote, “Itne paise wale hoke bhi court me shadi kia? 😅 yha toh hum middle class hoke bhi pel dia paisa shadi me.”(despite having so much money, why she chose court marriage?) Another wrote, “Itna kamate ho itna kaam karte ho magar shaaadi court marriage q ? Pesay Kahan le k jaoge bhae (Where will you leave so much money behind). “Ye itni normal Sari & jewelry to bilkul match nhi kr rhe ise acha to hum middle class wale krte h any ways happy married life,” added another.
Meanwhile, Devoleena and Shanwaz got married in Lonavala. The two have been planning to get married for the last two years but it got delayed. According to a source close to Hindustan Times, the couple envisioned a simple wedding and also Shanwaz’s family didn’t want it to be a grand affair.
