Actor Dinesh Phadnis who was known for his role as Fredericks in CID has sadly passed away.
All the TV buffs out there who have grown up watching the cult crime show CID knew that there was never a dull moment with actor Dinesh Phadnis onscreen who played Fredericks in the same. Sadly, the actor passed away today (December 5) owing to liver damage. The news of his death was confirmed by his CID co-star Dayanand Shetty who essayed Daya on the show.
Yesterday (December 4), the news of him being on a ventilator broke out. Since then many fans started praying for his speedy recovery but alas, he succumbed to his deteriorating health. Speaking to Etimes, Dayanand said, “Yes, it's true he is no more. It happened around 12:08 am. I am at his residence right now. His last rites will be conducted today at the Daulat Nagar crematorium. Almost everyone from the CID is present right now.”
There were reports of Dinesh suffering a stroke after which he was hospitalized but Shetty dismissed these reports. Earlier on Sunday (December 3), he told Pinkvilla, “Firstly, it wasn't a heart attack, it was liver damage, because of which he was immediately rushed to Tunga Hospital, Malad. For the last two days, he has been very critical. Today morning (Sunday) also I've learned that there's no major improvement. We're hoping he gets better soon. Dinesh was getting treated for some other ailment but the medication affected his liver adversely. That's why it is always recommended to take medicines very carefully. You never know when the medicine that one is taking to treat something can cause another major ailment. One should be very careful regarding allopathic medicines.”
Dinesh’s character from CID was one of the most loved characters since his comic timing and dialogues brought some entertainment quotient to the otherwise grim tone of the show. He also wrote some episodes of the show. He was also seen in movies like Sarfarosh and Super 30.
