Munawar Iqbal Faruqui was born on January 28, 1992. He is an Indian stand-up comedian and rapper. In 2022, he was part of Kangana Ranaut’s reality television show Lock Upp Season 1, and he also went ahead to win the TV show.

He uploaded a standup comedy video named “Dawood, Yamraaj, and Aurat” in April 2020 on his channel, which made him very famous. Then he went ahead and released his debut song, "Jawab,” in collaboration with Indian musician Spectra in August 2020.

On January 1, 2021, he performed a stand-up show at Munro Café in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, which led to a big controversy. His show was interrupted by the son of BJP MLA Malini Gaur, Eklavya Singh Gaur, who accused him of making malicious jokes about Hindu deities, and the Minister of Home Affairs of India, Amit Shah. Later on, he was arrested on January 2 by the Madhya Pradesh Police in the midst of his comic act, and it was done under hate speech laws in India.

The arrest of Munawar was heavily criticized for not allowing a comedian’s freedom of speech, which also included a joint initiative of the global Indian diaspora on February 2, 2021, that said a group of South Asian American stand-up comedians will perform a virtual comedy show on February 6, 2021, which will in return show support to jailed Munawar. Later on, he was granted bail by the Supreme Court of India.

After emerging as a winner in Kangana Ranaut’s Lock Upp season 1, it’ll be very interesting to see how Munawar's personality evolves in the BB house. Apart from Munawar, contestants like Ankita Lokhande, Vicky Jain, Aishwarya Sharma, Neil Bhatt, Isha Malviya, Abhishek Kumar, Anurag Dobhal, aka UK Ride, and Mannara Chopra are also going to be a part of this controversial reality show.
