Bigg Boss season 17 contestant Jigna Vora: Know everything about the former murder-accused journalist

A crime reporter who was based in Mumbai, Jigna Vora, made headlines when she was arrested for having an alleged role in killing senior crime journalist Jyotirmoy Dey back in 2011. She was accused of conspiring with gangster Chhota Rajan to kill the Mid-Day journalist. While gangster Chota Rajan was sentenced to life imprisonment, Vora was given seven years after the murder. She later penned a memoir title, Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison, detailing her experiences in prison. Scoop, based on her book, was helmed by filmmaker Hansal Mehta. Karishma Tanna played the lead role in the Netflix series, which featured Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Harman Baweja, and Prosenjit Chatterjee in supporting roles.

The series went on to win an award for Best Asian TV Series in October at the Busan Film Festival. In one of her interviews, which she gave to Zoom, she said she was glad that common people now knew her story.

Jigna has a law degree, and she graduated from Ruparel College in Mumbai. She later pursued a diploma course at Somaiya College. This is where she reportedly met Velly Thevar, who was her faculty member and was also known as a good crime reporter working for the Times of India, who influenced her to take up crime reporting. Initially, Jigna was interning with a law firm, but she had to give it all up as her parents persuaded her to get married. She was forced to marry a man who called himself an engineer and, at the same time, claimed to be running a printing press in Baruch, Gujarat. But later, Jigna found out that her husband had lied about all of it, and then the couple got separated. After her separation from her husband, she returned to her parents’ house with a four-year-old son. After this, she started pursuing a career in media.
