Bigg Boss 16: Forget Rs. 1000 crores, Salman Khan being paid less than last year for new season - Read on!

The countdown for Bigg Boss 16 has officially begun and just like every year, speculations are rife about which celebrities could be competing for the trophy this time around. Rumours about Salman Khan ’s exorbitant fee hike for Bigg Boss 16 have also been doing the rounds and it has been suggested that the superstar host will be taking home over Rs. 1000 crores for hosting the new season which is all set to air from October 1.

While Salman Khan’s fees has never officially been confirmed, it was reported last year that Salman banked Rs. 350 crores for hosting 14 weeks of Bigg Boss 15. Amidst reports suggesting Salman’s hefty pay hike for Bigg Boss 16, a recent report by Mid-Day suggests that it is not the case.

According to the report, the makers failed to meet expected revenue targets for Bigg Boss OTT and thus there has been a reduced interest from sponsors this year. Not only has this led to cancelation of Bigg Boss OTT which was hosted by Karan Johar last year, it also seems to have affected Salman’s show.

Unlike every year, Salman is said to have reluctantly agreed to a pay cut this year for Bigg Boss 16. This means that instead of the reported Rs. 1000 crores figure, Salman is actually being paid less than what he earned last season.

Salman, who has been hosting Bigg Boss since 2016, had during the Covid-19 period even volunteered to take a pay cut for Bigg Boss 14. The reality show aired as per schedule amidst the pandemic in 2020 and Salman had said at a press conference said that he’d be happy to cut down his fees if it meant everyone else working on the show gets paid.

Bigg Boss 16 will air on Colors come October and names of celebrities like Shivin Narang, Munawar Faruqui, Kanika Mann, Faisal Sheikh are said to be amongst those confirmed to enter the house.
