Today was the much-awaited trailer launch of the Varun Dhawan, Samantha Ruth Prabhu starrer Citadel: Honey Bunny. The launch took place in the midst of media personnel as well as the leading stars of the most eagerly looking forward to series, which has been directed by the inimitable duo of Raj & DK.

The trailer launch of Citadel: Honey Bunny was truly more memorable in many ways than one. Amidst the launch, Varun Dhawan managed to surprise everyone by spilling the beans about how he persuaded Aditya Chopra, the head honcho of Yash Raj Films.

On his part, Varun said how he went after the Yash Raj head to make an action film with him or with other new-age stars, but the producer did not want to take the risk. Varun reveals that it was during the making of Tiger, and he is grateful to Raj & DK, and Atlee for understanding his action talent.

While referring to the fact that the southern film industry is recognising his talent, Varun said, “The reason I am saying is that during lockdown, I remember I met Aditya Chopra. He and Maneesh (Sharma) were making Tiger 3 (which starred Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif) at the time. I asked him, ‘Sir, why don’t you make an action film with younger talent.’ I kept pursuing him”.

Varun added that, after his persuasion, Aditya Chopra replied, “Listen, I can’t do that because I give you that budget right now. You’re not at that place where I can give you such a big budget. I texted him and asked him what the budget was. He gave me a figure and said "this is the budget to make something big in action”.

A visibly excited and happy Varun Dhawan also went on to reveal that, “I remember when this opportunity came, I even asked Raj & DK and Amazon about the budget because I am getting this knowledge from Aditya Chopra. I am really grateful to Raj & DK and Amazon for giving me this opportunity”.

As for Citadel: Honey Bunny, besides Varun Dhawan (who plays the role of Bunny), it stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu as the leading lady and in the role of Honey. Besides this ‘action-packed’ on screen duo, the gripping series also stars Emma Canning, Sikandar Kher, Kay Kay Menon, Simran Bagga, and Saqib Saleem in all important roles.

The gripping series of Citadel: Honey Bunny, which will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video from November 7, has been directed by Raj & DK along with Sita R. Menon and has been created by Raj & DK.
