The Archies: Netizens cry nepotism while Bollywood gives a hearty welcome to Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda and Khushi Kapoor
The teaser of Zoya Akhtar's The Archies dropped on Saturday and a section of social media isn't too pleased with the filmmaker for launching three star-kids - Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda and Khushi Kapoor.
The teaser of the Zoya Akhtar ’s Netflix film The Archies dropped on Saturday and Bollywood celebrities cheered on for Agastya Nanda , Suhana Khan and Khushi Kapoor . However, as much as the debut of these three new generation actors has been applauded by their filmy families, several netizens took to social media to call out the Netflix film for putting the spotlight on star kids.
Apart from the three star kids, The Archies teaser also introduced Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Yuvraj Menda and Vedang Raina in key roles. While several fans expressed their excitement for the film based on the popular comic book, several others called out Bollywood for aping Hollywood films and comic after remaking several South Indian films. Others cried nepotism over Suhana, Khushi and Agastya’s casting and expressed their disappointment with Zoya Akhtar.
On Saturday celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan , Shah Rukh Khan , Gauri Khan, Abhishek Bachchan , Janhvi Kapoor and others took to social media to proudly celebrate and welcome the cast of The Archies. Agastya who is playing Archie Andrews in the Netflix film is Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson, while Shah Rukh’s daughter Suhana Khan playing Veronica and late Sridevi’s daughter Khushi plays Betty in the movie.
The teaser transported the comic book fans of The Archies to a whole different era with this first look at the film which is an Indian adaptation of the famous comics. Netflix already has an adaptation of The Archies running called Riverdale but Zoya Akhtar’s film is touted to be a musical following these popular characters.
The project went on floors in April this year and is still under production. It is being produced by Akhtar under her banner Tiger Baby .
