Netflix has delivered a faithful and well-executed adaption to Neil Gaiman's graphic novel, the series was well received by critics and fans.
For a long time, the series was thought to be impossible to adapt to due to the nature of the story, which explored multiple themes.
As well fact that most of the characters in the series are not popular or known to mainstream audiences and thus no studio wanted to risk the budget to make it work.
Fortunately for everyone, Netflix stepped up and according to a new report by Forbes, it was worth it.
According to the report The Sandman has spent seven consecutive days in the first-place position on the Top 10 charts, making it Netflix's top show in 89 countries.
"It’s pretty rare for a brand-new show to do it in the first season," and it’s even rarer for that show to complete a perfect week in its first seven days available."
Netflix has yet to announce if the series will get a second season, but considering the success of the show and the fact that a second season was teased in the final episode does make it a strong possibility.
The Sandman consists of ten episodes and stars Tom Sturridge, Boyd Holbrook, Vivienne Acheampong, and Patton Oswalt.
The series is currently streaming on Netflix.
