Rightly known as the ‘Blockbuster machine’, filmmaker Rohit Shetty has delivered several hits including Golmaal and Singham franchises in his career spanning over two decades. However, the director recently faced failure with Cirkus(2022), starring his Simmba actor Ranveer Singh. The film reportedly made on a budget of Rs 150 crores, turned out to be a disaster at the box office. During his recent appearance on popular talk show, Koffee With Karan Season 8, the filmmaker reflected upon his first big flop ever since he started his career in 2003.
Rohit was accompanied by his Singham star Ajay Devgn on a couch with the host Karan Johar. He said, “Yes, we went wrong and it was a film made in the pandemic. It was made before Sooryavanshi released. Somewhere me, as a director went wrong with that film. And good it was a small film that I went wrong with, not a big one. Three days later, I was shooting for my web series.” He also recalled words of wisdom from Anupam Kher, who visited him after his film failed. He told him, "After a point in your life, when you've worked so much, it's the event that fails and not you."
Rohit also shared about her son Ishaan, who is aspiring to be in movies. He said that he has an inclination towards acting and will soon join the industry. However, he also highlighted that his son will have to start from scratch and will in no way be given any extra credit and treatment because of his father. Earlier, Rohit also shared a picture with his son while he dropped off him at the Central Film School in London. “From dropping him to a play school to a film school… Time flies,” he captioned the post.
Meanwhile, Rohit recently made his Marathi debut as a producer with School College Ani Life. Next, he is geared up for Singham Again which stars Ajay Devgn in the lead role, alongside Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Arjun Kapoor and Shweta Tiwari. While Ranveer Singh and Akshay Kumar will be making a cameo appearance in the film. Besides that, he has a debut series Indian Police Force awaiting release in January 2024.
