For an actor, getting the audience to fall in love is much easier than making them hate you for a negative role you portray on-screen. It is a difficult job which only the most versatile performers can succeed at. The very talented Vivek Oberoi is one such actor who did it beautifully! He recently returned to our screens as Vikrant Dhawan with the third and much awaited season of his sports-drama web series Inside Edge. Not only did he leave us in awe of his gritty performance, but also made many fans despise the negative character, who he himself describes as a ‘meany’. Well, in an exclusive interview with Desimartini, Vivek opened up about the compliments he received for his performance as Vikrant Dhawan.

The actor stated, “So many creative compliments! I mean, people talking about how Vikrant is why they watch the show, or you know.. I think to me the greatest compliment is-- there was somebody who said something amazing, he said that Vikrant Dhawan is the Jon Snow of Inside Edge (laughs). It was quite funny, because he keeps coming back and surviving every season! But I think to me the greatest compliment is not something that people said, but the reaction to Vikrant because on paper he is a meany, right? He is the bad guy. And yet somewhere, as an actor, you’ve achieved being able to get an audience to back him, to say ‘I want Vikrant to win’. That is a challenge, and that was what I always wanted!”

Talking about how his wife Priyanka reacted to his dark character, Vivek shared, “I remember when I finished Inside Edge and I was shooting somewhere and it released and I told Priyanka, I told my wife you know, watch it just go ahead and watch it without me. I came back home and the first thing she said is ‘no no no, you’re not stepping inside the house, you’re an evil evil man’ and you know, I started laughing I was like chalo chalo you watch the show.”

That’s hilarious! But what did you honestly think of Vivek’s performance as Vikrant Dhawan?
