Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's Munmun Dutta calls her engagement rumours with Raj Anadkat 'utterly ridiculous'

Earlier rumours were rife that Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s Babita Ji aka Munmun Dutta is dating her co-star Raj Anadkat who was seen playing Tapu on the show. Earlier today, it was reported that the rumoured couple have gotten engaged in an intimate ceremony in Vadodara. The report stated that they exchanged rings earlier this month in the presence of their family members. However, now Munmun has denied rumours of her engagement with Raj. 

In an interview with Indiaforums, the actress said, "This is utterly ridiculous! There's not an ounce of truth to any of this. I refuse to waste my energy and attention on such fake news." In an earlier news report in News18 Showsha, a source close to the actors has revealed that Munmun (36) and Raj (27) have been engaged. The source said, “The engagement took place just a few days back. The two apparently exchanged rings in Vadodara (Gujarat). Munmun and Raj’s families have accepted their relationship and they were also present at the ceremony.”

For the unversed, Raj went on to quit the show in December 2022. However, the speculations surrounding Munmun and Raj’s relationship started ever since the latter joined the cast of the show. The source added, “They have been dating ever since Raj joined Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. It was very evident. Everyone on the sets knew about it. In fact, some people were certain that Munmun and Raj would get married eventually. Therefore, it is not shocking that they are engaged now.”

The rumours of their romance started doing the rounds in September 2021. Raj and Munmun have still not broken their silence on the news of their engagement. An earlier news report by The Times Of India stated that all their co-stars from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah were aware of their relationship.

However, just like this time, Munmun had slammed these speculations and rubbished the news of her dating Raj. Munmun shared a strong statement which said, “To the media and their zero credibility ‘journos’, who has given you the right to post ‘imaginary’ ‘made up’ articles in people’s name about their private life without their consent? Are you liable to the damage that you cause to their lives with your reckless behaviour? You don’t stop at shoving your cameras on the face of a grieving woman who just lost her love or lost her son, in a funeral, just for your TRPs. You can stoop to any level to create sensational articles/headlines at the cost of someone’s dignity, but are you going to take responsibility for wrecking havoc in their lives?? If no then, you should be ashamed of yourself.”
