'So so cringe' : Netizens troll Karan Kundrra's Ishq Mein Ghayal promo, call it a cheap rip-off of The Vampire Diaries

The much-awaited promo of Karan Kundrra , Reem Shaikh , and Gashmeer Mahajani ’s supernatural drama Ishq Mein Ghayal is finally here. However, no sooner did the promo of the show released than it started getting mixed reviews from the netizens. Many netizens mainly started criticizing the makers for ripping off the cult popular show The Vampire Diaries in the dialogues and characters of Ishq Mein Ghayal.

Talking about the same, the promo of the show hints that the plot bears an uncanny resemblance to The Vampire Diaries. The fans of TVD will be able to point out how Reem’s character resembles Elena Gilbert (played by Nina Dobrev), Gashmeer’s character is based on Stefan Salvatore (played by Paul Wesley), and finally, Karan is stepping into the shoes of Damon Salvatore which was played by Ian Somerhalder whose performance was also much loved on the show. Karan’s dialogue ‘Hello Brother’ is also a straight copy of Ian’s dialogue from the show that is still considered iconic amongst the fans of The Vampire Diaries. Hence, many fans started calling out the makers for ruining the essence of TVD by bringing in Ishq Mein Ghayal.

One of the netizens stated, “So so cringe, not the Hello Brother” while another user said, “Bro like kyu???.......JUST WHY??????? LIKE LITERALLY????.......THEY THOUGHT THEY CAN COPY TVD?!?!?!.......AND WTF IS 'HELLO BROTHER'?!?!?!.....PLLZZZ MATT KARO AISA!!!!....POORI DUNIYA MEIN SE TUMHE DAMON AUR STEFAN KA CHARACTER HI MILLA THA GNDI RECREATION KE LIYE.” A netizen went on to say, “Itni achi series ka kya satyanaash kr rahe ho?!?!?!?!?!? Aur koi kaam ni bacha tha? Bhagwaan ka vaasta hai aese ghatia kaam na kiya karo.” A netizen has already predicted the show as a flop. The comment read, “Seriously they copied the Vampire diaries and Twilight?? Aur kuch nhi mila? By watching the trailer i can tell how hideously flop this serial is going to be.. coloursTv always ruins every serial plus I feel sorry for the poor actors who agreed to be a part of this nonsense. TVD and Twilight were epic series and movie. Why don't you bring anything original. Stop ruining and copying Hollywood movies and series.”

The show Ishq Mein Ghayal however tends to differ from The Vampire Diaries in the fact that it is based on the concept of werewolves and not vampires. It will be interesting to see whether the show manages to impress the netizens despite these comparisons. The first promo of the show was unveiled in yesterday’s episode of Bigg Boss 16.
