After her stint in Bigg Boss 16, Sumbul Touqeer has bagged the role of IAS officer in the fictional show, Kavya-Ek Jazbaa Ek Junoon. The 19-year-old actress said the character is the opposite of who she is in real life and also more mature than her. However, a section of people pointed out her educational qualification, which is far less than her role in the show. Addressing the criticism, the Imlie actress said that she hasn’t quit her studies. She believes that education does play a significant role in one’s personal and intellectual development.
In a recent interview with Etimes, Sumbul said, “Who says education is not important to me?” she asks, adding, “So many girls like me have a responsibility towards their families. That doesn’t mean I have quit my studies. I was pursuing commerce. However, I have decided to put it on hold and apply for a course in cinematography.” Earlier, she had said that her IAS character of IAS will be a learning process for her.
Further, when asked if she ever missed going to college like a regular teenager, she said, “I often think about it. However, the way I lead my life and the happiness I get being on the set, everything seems worth it. While I cherished my time in school, I believe that sometimes, sacrifices need to be made to achieve our goals. Acting is my passion, and knowledge plays a crucial role in one’s personal and intellectual development.”
Earlier, she took to Twitter to shut the trolls saying, “Saw someone commenting on my education qualification….this is what I’ve been doing all along balancing my studies and passion at the same time and unlike you I’m quite good at that… And as actors when we are asked play the role of a murderer , actors don’t actually kill someone.”
Meanwhile, Sumbul was one of the contestants among Shiv Thakare, MC Stan, Archana Gautam and Priyanka Chahar Choudhary in Salman Khan-hosted reality show, Bigg Boss 16. She recently appeared in a music video titled Sazishen alongside Sumedh Mudgalkar.
