'Sit at home like a Queen, your husband is earning' : TMKOC's Priya Rajda recalls Asit Modi's sexist remark

The makers of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah have been witnessing unpleasant times lately. After Jennifer Mistry who played Mrs Sodhi on the show exited from the same and accused the makers of alleged sexual harassment, now Priya Rajda who played Rita Reporter on the show also has recalled a sexist remark which was passed on her by producer Asit Modi allegedly. Priya whose director husband Malav Rajda also worked on the show for a long time also opened up about her role being stagnant on the comedy show for many years.
Talking about the same, Priya Rajda spoke with Etimes that she had called Asit Modi several times to seek some clarity on her role as she was unhappy with the graph. The actress said that Asit rarely picked up her calls but once when he had picked up, he passed on a sexist remark on her. Rajda said, “I called but mostly didn't get a reply. But one fine day I day I did call him. Asit Modi said, 'Why do you want to earn? Sit at home like a Queen. Your husband is earning.”
Apart from this, Priya Rajda went on to say that there was no importance given to her character nor there were any increment in her remuneration for the show. The actress revealed that her pictures were also missing from the billboards and posters Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and that she had to ‘ask’ the makers for the same. Rajda said that it felt extremely humiliating and her husband who worked as a director on the show had lightly joked that Ajay Devgn came to promote his films on the show more than her character actually appeared.
Lastly, Priya Rajda said that she is in regular touch with Jennifer Mistry amidst the case. She also came out in support of the actress saying that she has never been abusive or has misbehaved on the sets. In fact, Priya credited Mistry for helping her come out of her depression.
