Shark Tank India judge Aman Gupta is fond of Bollywood movies and actors. His recent post on social media where he recreates Shahrukh Khan ’s famous helicopter scene from Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham is proof. Even on the show, the co-founder of boAt has often shared dialogues and gave references from Bollywood while giving his valuable feedback on the pitched business ideas. Along similar lines, he once quoted Ranveer Singh 's film, Band Baaja Baarat while responding to his query about his interest in investing in the company.
It happened during the pitch by Krishnav Dhingra, a 22-year-old founder of Sneakare. Dhingra presented his shoe care company which sells boxes to store shoes and related cleaning products. It is when Anupam Mittal , Shaadi.com founder, quizzed him about how big a shoe market is in India that will cater to his product idea. The young founder immediately responded when he started his company Shaadi.com, the internet was not even a thing in India. He said,” “When u started with Shaadi.com, you only had said that there was no internet. You had conviction in yourself that you will succeed, similarly, I also feel my business will grow considering the growing demand for the shoeboxes.”

Impressed with his confidence, Aman Gupta responded by quoting something similar from Ranveer Singh's film, Band Baaja Baarat. He said, “Yaad hai woh band baja baraat Ranveer Singh ek baar hi kehta hai boss tyre industry ke liye, apne bhi toh kahi se start kiya tha, kisi ko support kiya tha, phir usko woh pehla order milta hai shaadi karane ka right? So that is a good answer that you have given to him.”
For the unversed, the 2010 film Band Baaja Baraat is debut film of actor Ranveer Singh who plans to start a wedding planning enterprise called Shaadi Mubarak and ends up falling in love with his business partner played by Anushka Sharma. Directed by Maneesh Sharma, the film was massive hit of that year.
Later, Aman joined by SUGAR cosmetic founder Vineeta Singh and Emcure Pharmaceuticals co-founder Namita Thapar made an offer of Rs 21 lakh for 15 percent equity to Dhingra against his initial demand of Rs 20 lakh for 5 percent equity in the company.
