Shark Tank India 3: Ronnie Screwvala is the latest addition to the sharks, all you need to know

The upcoming new season of Shark Tank India 3 is garnering a lot of eyeballs especially because of the addition of 6 new panelists. One of them is film producer and entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala. Here is all you need to know about him.

Ronnie was named on the Esquire List of the 75 Most Influential People of the 21st Century. He was also in the 78th spot in the 100 most influential people in the world on the Time 100. Screwvala initiated cable television and built a media and entertainment conglomerate which went on to partner with giants like News Corp, 20th Century Fox, The Walt Disney Company, and Bloomberg. In 2012, he relieved the company to Disney for an enterprise value of US$1.4 billion. In 2013 he and his wife Zarina Mehta founded the Swades Foundation whose goal is to work with people from the rural community and move them out of the poverty line. He has also founded the online education app called UpGrad, built a sports company focusing on football and Kabaddi, and is the head of the creative content company called RSVP focusing on backing quality content in movies. He has been a private equity investor in Indian startups through his investment company Unilazers Ventures. He is the author of the book Dream With Your Eyes Open.

He was born in Mumbai into a Parsi family wherein his father was an executive at a British firm. He is an alumnus of the Cathedral and John Connon School and Sydenham College. He furthermore also had a keen interest in theatre and participated in Shakespearean plays. He was first married to Manjula Nanvati with whom he has a daughter, Trishya Screwvala. His second marriage was to Zarina who was also a co-founder of his media company.

Screwvala has produced acclaimed movies like A Wednesday, Fashion, Barfi, Chennai Express and Uri. His latest production movies include the Kangana Ranaut starrer Tejas and the Netflix anthology series Lust Stories 2.
