Debina Bonerjee and Gurmeet Choudhary welcomed their daughter into the world earlier this year. While the two actors are busy with their parenting duties, actress Debina took time out for a blog to share how their first week with their daughter has been after welcoming their daughter home.
The actress shared in her blog how their daughter Lianna was diagnosed with jaundice five days after she was born. Debina said that she had stepped out of home with Gurmeet and their daughter for the newborn’s first check up and the doctor informed then that their daughter might have jaundice and needed to be admitted to the hospital.
What followed was blood test, which revealed to the new parents that their daughter Lianna had jaundice with bilirubin levels going at 19 while anything above 15 is counted to be dangerous. The Ramayan actress further stated that Lianna was admitted to the hospital under two ‘bili lights’ for treatment instead of one which is normally used.
The actress further shared her guilt about not taking her daughter to the doctor sooner. “I was in pain and tensed. Even Guru felt something was wrong as Lianna’s eyes were yellow. We felt guilty about not coming to the doctor before. But everyone assured us Lianna will be fine. We were informed that 90 per cent of kids are either born with jaundice or have jaundice after being born,” Debina said.
Lianna, however, slept like a ‘queen’ for 24 hours straight instead of feeling uncomfortable or crying according to Debina. She added that their daughter’s jaundice level dropped to 10 after spending one day in the hospital and they were given the go ahead to head home.
The new mother also advised parents to keep Google aside during times of a crisis and to bank on experience of people around them to avoid getting panicked.
